Contst Entry - Sievert Jesperson by konfuse Contst Entry - Sievert Jesperson by konfuse
This is for :iconfreyad-dryden:s Character Creation Contest.
It took me long enough to decide for something and even longer to draw him.
Anyway here are the information:

Name – Sievert Jesperson
Race – human
Age – 17
Sex – male
Nationality – Baask Penisula
Personality – generally nice, wants to prove himself, proud of his heritage and going-to-come strength, proud in general, strong-willed, not the smartest,
Rough physical description – still slender and brawny but one can already see that he will become one of his kind. Tall, strong and most certainly wild beyond common sense.
A Back-story containing any significant events that shaped the character and how they got where they were – for the Hagal seem to have settled down a little bit, not everyone is happy about that. Even though Thorga is going to be a hunter he really wants to become a warrior and take care of enemys. Even though most of the enemys don't know they are...
While alone on a hunt he got lost (didn't took care of his way back), got catched and sold into slavery.
Now he's living in Vasellio, working for a wizard family. Doing a lot of heavy work (thanks to his strong body build) or acting as a servant (for he is not that bad looking). He's praying to Hestia on a reglular base that she will help him to find back home.
He'll soon try to flee and take a run for it, rather risking to being changed into an ugly animal or worse, than living a life in slavery.

This character is still young and with a mentor could achieve something. For now he just wants to get back home but to be able to do this he needs someone to lead him on or else he'll get in trouble and his journey won't be very long.

Additional information
Height: 1.80m (will grow even taller)
Haircolour: light-red
Eyecolour: gray
Build: Still brawny and slim, but give him a few years and he'll look like your typical Hagal.

I really hope you like him. Everything is very vary but also there is many place for improvement and character developement.
I'm also not quite sure how it was possible for him to get caught in Baask Penisula and sold to Vasellio but I like the idea.
It is a bit clicheι but I think it would work quite well for a proud person to not give in but try his or her best to flee and maybe endure the consequences.

Ah anyway. It's late and I'm tired. This is my entry though. Enjoy.
(The name is a combination of two nordic names. I like the sound of them xD)

An excellent character idea.
One minor problem, slavery is officially illegal in Vasellio as of ten years ago and it was never really legal in Dymacion as a whole. Although some slavery still goes on between the Baask tribes, it's not done in quite the same fashion as it was in the other cultures and they don't usually sell to outsiders any more because . . . well, it's now illegal in every other country.
With some legal maneuvering, one of the wizards could arrange for him to be held under an indentured service contract, although for the said wizard to avoid scandal, he'd have to have some excuse to deflect charges of slave ownership. For example, the wizard could have in contract that after the terms of service expire, he might have to provide some education and training in a field of Sievert's choice (probably the best choice there, because then his owner could make it look like it was for Sievert's own eventual good and thus appear magnanimous instead of looking like a human trafficker). And then, of course, the wizard could find little ways to keep extending the period of service in the contract. Many Vaselliano noblemen do this. It's in blatant violation of the spirit of the law, but it's technically legal.

Ah! okay, first thanks.
Second: I read that it is official illegal but you also wrote (or at least that what I understood), that a lot of people don't really care for that.

Giving Sievert an basic education and training would be an intresting addition.
This way the wizard would have a strong and cheap worker.

I said that nobody really noticed, because, while officially it is outlawed, there are so many ways around it. Serfs in general are pretty much treated as slaves and indentured servitude contracts can get you trapped in a system that is exactly the same thing as slavery, but it's never called slavery anywhere on paper. It's practically slavery, but technically not.
Politician stuff, you know?

smart bastard wizards!
smart bastard politicians!

Exactly. And that's why you have people like Alydm "Bloody Dawn," the most notorious wizard slayer in all the kingdom, carving up wizards like Christmas turkeys.
